many beautiful and unique urn styles available. Before making a final
decision about composition and style loved ones should decide where
the cremated remains will be placed. If the urn will be placed in
a columbarium niche you need to know the size and shape urn the niche

WOOD URNS
Wood urns are crafted from hand-selected wood of different tree species.
Commonly used woods include cherry, oak, mahogany, maple, and poplar. Many
types of exotic woods are also available. Wooden urns have a warm
appearance due to their natural beauty.
CERAMIC URNS
Ceramic
Urns are usually hand painted glaze or have appliqués applied. They
are then heat fired for a glass like finish. A variety of designs
can be achieved by applying abstract color patterns. Ceramic urns
are beautiful and unique choices for cremains.
NATURAL STONE URNS Natural
Stone Urns are made from materials including marble, onyx, and granite.
Natural stone urns are carved works of art. There are two main processes
for making an urn of natural stone. They are turned urns and fabricated
urns.
TURNED URNS
Natural
stone urns are made on a stone lathe from a block of natural stone
that has been placed on a spindle. Diamond tipped tools are
utilized to reveal the beautiful urn inside the block. Once shaped
the natural stone urn is polished by a series of abrasives to smooth
the inner and outer walls. The urn is then finished with a high polish.
The end result is a beautiful urn that resembles a vase.
FABRICATED URNS
Fabricated urns make use of natural stone pieces of
tile. The pieces are cut to size by a water fed stone saw then adhered
together with a type of epoxy intended for use with natural stone.
Natural stone urns are usually angular in shape. Some may have
an appliqué of
bronze or brass on the face. Because of the characteristics
of natural stone each natural stone urn unique in appearance.
METAL URNS
Metal
urns are most commonly made from bronze, brass, copper, and pewter.
Bronze urns are made by either using the artist's lost wax method
or fabricated from sheet bronze with welded joints. Brass urns are
used for the unique appearance of cloisonné urns. Spun
metal urns are made from various metals. These urns are cylindrical
in shape with a brushed appearance.
COMPOSITE URNS
Composite
urns are created from man made materials such as resins or plastics. The
materials are usually poured into a mold. Because of the use of molds
composite urns can have unique designs.
